My verdict
This is the most realistic blowjob simulator I’ve tried yet. Instead of the generic up-and-down motions of a piston, the two servo motors provide a precise emulation of a head bobbing up and down along with those small human-like imperfections in motion or even deliberate left-right gyrations. That’s what you’re paying for with the Rubjoy, and if a realistic feeling motion is what you’re after, there is no better solution on the market right now.
I highly recommend the Rubjoy if you’re looking for a realistic automated blowjob that can truly be used hands-free.
- Pros
- 1. You're able to swap out sleeves.
- 2. Almost perfectly simulates a real blowjob.
- 3. Feels absolutely amazing.
- Cons
- 1. You can't use huge sleeves with this toy.
About the product
While we’ve seen no end of innovations when it comes to sex toys for women, the male side of things was quite stagnant until fairly recently, consisting only of various shapes of rubbery jiggly things you could thrust your cock into.
Now we’ve seen an explosion of innovation with toys that can automatically stroke, twist, suck, massage, vibrate, pulsate, and generally delight your dick. The latest of which is the Rubjoy, a two-axis hands-free robot stroker that’s available now for $400.
Design
I mentioned it’s a two-axis robot, but what does that actually mean? Most automated male strokers (all of the commercially available ones, anyway) use a single axis for their movements. In other words: they only go up and down.
The Rubjoy employs a unique dual servomotor drive system, enabling it to gyrate left or right, which results in a more realistic and nuanced stroking action. It’s that slight deviation from the generic up and down—a bit of controlled randomness in the stroke—which makes it feel incredibly realistic.
The maximum stroke length is around 6 inches and can reach as high as 300 strokes per minute, depending on the stroke length. For a full length stroke, you won’t get anywhere near that kind of speed.
The Rubjoy ships with a small open-ended generic TPE stroker which you can easily find a replacement for if yours is worn out or damaged, or alternatively you can swap it out for something completely different. But it won’t work with larger strokers like a Fleshlight. It’s designed for smaller, lightweight onahole-style masturbators.
Although I don’t have any smaller stroker with hard shells to test with, I did also try a smaller silicone sleeve, which seemed about the largest it would comfortably hold. The silicone was strong enough and thick enough that it didn’t deform too much.
I also tried one of the Handy sleeves, made of lightweight stretchy TPE, which seemed to work. Without a hard shell though, it can squeeze a little too much if you’re particularly thick.
In the name of science, I also attempted to fit a much larger stroker, and in fairness, it sort of worked, but it was obviously stressing the motors too much and I wouldn’t suggest doing so (nor is it officially supported).
You can buy replacement rings to hold the stroker in place, and it should accommodate anything up to 2.5 inches in diameter without issue. It’s really quite an innovative and minimalist design that allows it to work with a variety of sleeves to dramatically change up your experience, rather than locking you into one particular brand.
It runs off mains power so you’ll need to leave it plugged in during use, which might sound annoying, but it means there’s no battery to degrade and eventually break. It’s a travesty that so many of our devices contain batteries nowadays which will eventually render them useless, even when the rest of the circuitry is fine.
Performance
The Rubjoy ships with a versatile mounting system, too. It’s all based on a standard 1/4-inch camera thread on the base of the toy, so if you want to make your own custom mount system, you can do so easily. You might already have some compatible camera rigging gear. It’s also compatible with RAM mounts, so the possibilities are endless.
But I don’t think you’ll need to DIY anything, because the one supplied in the box is plenty adjustable.
As well as an arm that pivots and locks in two places, the Rubjoy package also includes a large, flat acrylic plate. This is designed to go underneath you, so you can either sit or lie on top of it, thereby providing a solid base for the Rubjoy adjustable arm to screw in to.
This gives you a great amount of freedom to position the Rubjoy exactly where needed. Of all the automated strokers I’ve tried yet, this is easily the best for actual hands-free usage.
Of course, this is partly because the Rubjoy is small enough to be able to make use of a lightweight mounting system. Other automated strokers like the Handy and Keon are simply too bulky and heavy, and typically require you to hold them in place. Both of those have now released a desk mounting system, but it’s not nearly as versatile as the Rubjoy’s, nor are they based on standard mounting systems.
Others
The hardware alone is nothing without the software to back it up though, and as there’s no buttons or built-in patterns on the Rubjoy, you’ll need to use the associated Rubjoy smartphone app in order to make the Rubjoy do anything.
The app connects over Bluetooth, and while it’s early in development and the features are a little sparse, but what it does offer right now is an incredibly smooth and intuitive experience—which is frankly very rare when it comes to sex toy apps.
Simply move your finger up and down on the control pad to perform a basic stroke, or from side to side to wobble it, or any combination of the two—such as circling your finger around.
You can record your own sequence or playback your saved recordings and well as some included patterns from the creator. There are some parameter sliders you can adjust such as like maximum stroke length and speed, but these only set the limits before recording, rather than allowing you to adjust a movement that’s already been recorded. However, you can set the home position (the zero point on the up/down axis), so if you find you’re slipping out it’s not going down down as far as you’d like, you can adjust that on the fly rather than fiddling with the angle of your mount.
It’s really easy to hand over the control to someone else, or just record a pattern you like and play it back anytime. You can also share one of your creations using a custom URL, but there’s no public database of recordings yet (other than those that are included by the creators).
One slight limitation is that (at least on iOS) the app doesn’t continue to playback motion in the background, so you can’t, for instance, watch some porn in your smartphone browser at the same time. But this seems like a bug that can be fixed in time.
Compared to more established apps from the likes of Kiiroo, the Rubjoy app currently lacks features like web-based remote control, or the ability to synchronize the toy to immersive videos. Again I’m sure in time we’ll see more development to bring the Rubjob in line with some of these other strokers. But for now, what it does have, is an absolutely solid, reliable easy-to-use interface to teach the Rubjoy a movement, repeat that movement, or playback previously saved motions.
I know there are some exciting features in the works, such as accelerometer-based recordings. This will allow you to strap your phone to someone’s head as they give you a blowjob, then be able to play back those actions later. You might also be able to download a script
As a personal, automated, and hands-free system, it absolutely works well.
Experience
While you can of course use the Rubjoy by yourself, it’s also immensely fun to hand the controller over to someone else. My mistress tends to be quite lazy, and loves nothing more than tying me up and then leaving me to suffer. The Rubjoy is so simple to set up and position in place, then requires no more than a flick of a finger on her part to tease me. When she tires of “manual” control, she can load up a sequence and just watch.
Price
$400 is a big ask, inline with larger sex machines and a little higher than existing automated strokers like the Keon and Handy. It seems a little overpriced at first glance—considering the size of the hardware—but it’s worth pointing out that this is an Indie creator team that doesn’t yet have the economy of scale of larger companies. It also currently lacks some of the software features that other toys have. But again, it’s early days, and from what I’ve seen so far, the usability of what it does feature so far is superb.
The other big advantage of the Rubjoy is that it’s a versatile system to suit a variety of smaller stroker sleeves (rather than locking you into one brand, as the Keon does). It also has a fantastic mounting system that you can use out of the box or DIY to your preference easily.
