News hit this week that tech giant Apple has approved its first-ever iPhone porn app…in the EU. Famous for what Steve Jobs called the company’s “moral responsibility” in keeping adult content accessibility from iPhone users, it seemed, at first, this news signaled a change in Apple’s policy. Might we see iPhone users locked into their screens more than ever before? Or even folks downloading their sex toy remote control apps via their iPhones to enjoy a little tickle and jolt?
The app in question, Hot Tub, allows its users access to adult sites like xHamster and Pornhub. It is available in the EU via the AltStore.
A deeper dive into this news reveals what this XBIZ article calls Apple’s “begrudging approval" of the Hot Tub app being downloaded. In a statement released last week, Apple said, in part, “…we certainly do not approve of this app and would never offer it in our App Store. The truth is that we are required by the European Commission to allow it to be distributed by marketplace…” But the EC can (and has) surpassed Apple’s policy to provide Hot Tub an entry having adopted the Digital Markets Act or DMA. Implemented by various governments three years ago, the DMA requires Apple to allow its users the freedom to download apps from alternative app stores.
Again, what further changes will Apple have to endure? As we are all well aware of (and have been using) cell phone porn download app capacity, adult toy net connectivity, remote Bluetooth capacity, is not only the wave of the future…it is the hot sauce of the now!
When we all want greater connectivity to our toys, the capacity to share teledildonic experiences with remote partners and all the other possibilities coming via AI and our mobile connecting to it, this ‘infiltration’ of Apple, sets us all dreaming.
